'ENTRUDO GORDO' IN SABUGAL
From the 21st to the 25th of February, tradition and entertainment come together by the celebration of Carnival, along with a diversified program of activities that you will not want to miss.
The season’s traditional gastronomy is back in local restaurants, an opportunity to delight yourself with the region’s unique flavours.
Friday 21st is booked to assist the lively, colourful and creative children’s parades, with little revellers filling the streets of Soito and Sabugal with colour and joy.
On Saturday, 22nd, takes place “o dasamuar do forno” in Penalobo and Quarta-Feira (a tradition consisting on the ignition of the village’s collective ovens intended to gather the local populations) a traditional sausage festival in Cerdeira, a traditional market, Capeia and bonfire in Lageosa da Raia and the School prom in Sabugal. The XI Chapter of the Brotherhood of Bucho Raiano is also going to take place in the Historical Village of Sortelha.
Carnival celebrations reach their high point on Sunday, 23rd, with the Carnival parade in Sabugal. The parade starts at Rua António José de Almeida and culminates at Central de Camionagem. It should be noted that, on this day, the local bus station hosts a street market, a showcase for the exhibition and sale of farm products and local handicrafts. The village of Aldeia do Bispo is also the stage for a Carnival parade and street entertainment. In the village of Quarta-feira, there will be a drama display consisting of the reading of “Entrudo’s fame”.
On Monday 24th, at 9:30 p.m., the Sabugal Municipal Auditorium hosts the show ‘God’, a divine comedy with Joaquim Monchique (free admission, subject to available seats). The masquerade ball in Aldeia do Bispo is also scheduled for Monday and, on the next day, there will be a farm market and street entertainment.

Friday (21st), between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.: Largo do Cinema, Rua António José de Almeida, Largo da Fonte, Rua 5 de Outubro, Praça da República, Rua das Tílias, Largo Nossa Senhora da Graça and Largo da Fonte.
Sunday (23rd), between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.: Rua Teófilo Braga, Rua António José de Almeida, Largo da Fonte, Travessa da Escola, Avenida dos Bombeiros (EN233-3) and Central de Camionagem.
